The BMI assessment process is set to commence in mid-August, with the initial recording scheduled for August 16. Over the next three months, all personnel will have the opportunity to prepare for these assessments, which aim to promote healthier lifestyles within the force.

Personnel found to be in the obese category (BMI 30 and above) will be given an additional three months, until the end of November, to reduce their weight. Those who fail to meet the required BMI standards by this deadline will face the possibility of Voluntary Retirement Scheme (VRS) options, with exceptions made for individuals with legitimate medical conditions such as thyroid disorders or other such.

Assam Police will become the first law enforcement agency in India to implement such a comprehensive BMI assessment program, starting with the BMI measurements on August 16.
