Assam Police Seize 10000 Yaba Tablets In Hailakandi

 

GUWAHATI: Assam police have seized at least 10,000 Yaba tablets in an anti-drug operation at Hailakandi district, officials said on Thursday.

In an anti-drug operation in the Hailakandi district of Assam on Wednesday night, Assam police seized at least 10,000 Yaba tablets.

The seizure occurred in the Narainpur area of the district, police informed on Thursday.

The police also arrested one person on account of drug peddling.

Hailakandi SP Nabneet Mahanta, interacting with the media, said, "We had confidential information that an infamous drug dealer named Bilal Uddin Choudhury was operating illegally in the Hailakandi district. Based on this, we devised a plan to capture him."

He further informed that police officials in the disguise of a customer approached Choudhury for buying narcotic substances, and they were able to catch him red-handed.

According to the police, the market value of seized Yaba tablets must be around ₹50 lahks.
