GUWAHATI: After state health minister Himanta Biswa Sarma informed that strict action would be taken against the people who had visited Nizamuddin Markar but have failed to identify themselves for COVID-19 screening before 7th April, Assam Police has released an urgent notice on the same.

The notice states that all such individuals are requested to present themselves at the nearest hospital or PHC by 6 AM of 7th April. They may also call helpline number 104 for informing the authorities of their presence and condition.

If such persons deliberately fail to present themselves by the given deadline, or inform the authorities, strict legal action will be taken against them, their shelter providers or those having knowledge of such travel history but have kept it hidden, under  relevant provisions of IPC and Disaster Management Act, 2005.

Minister Sarma had earlier informed that 128 of the 831 people are yet to be identified who are directly or indirectly associated with the Nizamuddin Markaz.

Assam Police also applauded the responsible citizens who have presented themselves or shared information of their fellow citizens.
