GUWAHATI: The Goalpara Police, led by the Officer-in-Charge of Matia Police Station,intercepted a vehicle suspected of transporting illegal cough syrup bottles late on Wednesday night. The vehicle, bearing registration number AS-01-AY-9089, was stopped by police during a routine check.

Upon inspection, the police discovered 199 bottles of Codeine Phosphate Syrup hidden inside the vehicle. The controlled substance, often misused as a narcotic, was being transported illegally.
Three individuals travelling in the vehicle were immediately apprehended by the police. Following their arrest, legal proceedings have been initiated against the accused.
