GUWAHATI: Assam's Director General of Police, Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta awarded the DGP's commendation medal for the year 2020 to 79 police personnel of the state for their meritorious service.
The medals were given in two different categories - Gold and Silver.
Asstt. Inspector General of Police Nimbalkar Vaibhav Chandrakant, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Barun Purkayastha, and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Mayank Kumar were among the 13 personnel awarded with the Gold Medal.
Among the 66 police personnel awarded with the Silver Medal are Director of Police (Communication) Prasanta Saikia, Addl. Deputy Commissioner of Police (West) Suprotive Lal Baruah, and Deputy Superintendent of Police Sukanya Das.
The medals were awarded on the occasion of Assam Police Day on October 1, 2020. A function to commemmorate the occasion was held at the 4th Assam Police Batallion, Kahilipara with chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal as the chief guest.
