Assam Police Arrests over 2,000 People for Lockdown Violation, Rs 1.02 Cr Fine Collected

GUWAHATI: The Assam Police has arrested a total of 2,326 persons till now for violation of lockdown across the state. The police have realised fine worth a total of Rs 1.02 crores from the violators.            

Further, as on April 22, the police had recorded a total of 2069 incidents of violation while 1224 cases have been registered.

Additionally, 17,872 vehicles have been detained as well.

It is to be mentioned that a country-wide lockdown is ongoing to prevent the spread of coronavirus. The government had appealed to residents to follow the lockdown strictly or to face police action.  

Additionally, 25 boats have also been seized. Further, in Dhubri, 300 people were arrested while 80 FIRs have been registered so far. Cracking down on violators, more than 350 two-wheelers were also seized from the district.
