Assam Police Arrest Multiple Across Operations As War On Drugs Continues

GUWAHATI: Assam police on Saturday, March 1, continued its anti-narcotics operations, leading to multiple arrests and significant drug seizures across different districts of the state. In a series of successful raids, heroin, cash, and narcotics were confiscated, further strengthening the authorities’ crackdown on drug trafficking.

In Cachar, a source-based operation at Silcoorie Road, Sildubi, under Silchar Police led to the interception of a vehicle, resulting in the seizure of 415 grams of heroin worth ₹2.2 crore and ₹2 lakh in cash. Two individuals were apprehended in connection with the case.

Meanwhile, in Lakhimpur, based on intelligence, Boginadi Police launched an operation against drug traffickers. A total of 154.46 grams of heroin was seized, and one person was arrested.

In South Salmara Mankachar, an early morning raid was conducted at Tumni Sundorpara. The operation resulted in the seizure of 2,000 Yaba tablets (209g), 51g of heroin, ₹2,100 in cash, a mobile phone, and a motorcycle. One person was arrested, and an FIR was filed as the investigation continues.

Assam Police has been actively combating drug-related crimes under the state government’s zero-tolerance policy. Further operations are underway to combat the influx of the narcotics trade in the state.
