According to the department's data, a western disturbance, along with an upper air cyclonic circulation, is responsible for the prevailing weather conditions. This has also been expected to bring light to moderate rainfall over sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim, with the possibility of hailstorm and gusty winds (30-50 kmph) over the eastern Himalayan region.

Rainfall and snowfall have already been recorded over the past 24 hours across India, including Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Jammu & Kashmir due to the impact of the western disturbance. Isolated heavy rainfall was also reported in parts of Tamil Nadu and Kerala. Additionally, thunderstorms with lightning were observed in Uttarakhand, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Bihar, and Uttar Pradesh.

The IMD has also advised residents in the affected regions to stay updated with local weather warnings and take necessary precautions against thunderstorms, hailstorms, and strong winds.
