GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet has granted revised administrative approval for a project valued at ₹407.50 crore on September 8. This project entails the construction of a Trumpet Interchange at the Gauripur T-Junction in North Guwahati, to be executed under the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) mode as part of the State Own Priority Development (SOPD-G) for the fiscal year 2022-23.

The project will include a six-lane Road Over Bridge (ROB) utilising the Bow String Girder Bridge design. Two two-lane ROBs employing the Bow String Girder Bridge design are also on the cards.

A six-lane Bow String Girder Bridge over NH-17, featuring an impressive span length of 98 metres is also part of the project. The construction of three Minor Bridges will also be undertaken.

The project will also include Right and Left Approach Roads utilising a T-beam girder design. The implementation of a Reinforced Earth (RE) wall is also on the cards.

This development is poised to streamline traffic flow, particularly for vehicles transitioning from the six-lane road under construction, connecting to the under-construction Guwahati-North Guwahati bridge over the Brahmaputra River. This project will benefit an estimated 1.8 lakh commuters, ensuring smoother traffic merging into the four-lane NH-17 at the Gauripur T-Junction.
