Assam Offers Dedicated Industrial Park For Japanese Companies

The meeting focused on Assam's youth in bridging Japan's demand for a skilled workforce and the existing programmes between the two nations

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has proposed to establish a dedicated industrial park for Japanese companies wanting to set up shop in the state.
Sarma expressed his intention during a meeting with Japan's State Minister of Justice H.E. Komura Masahiro during his visit to Japan. This initiative aims to create a favourable environment for Japanese investments.

They discussed the shared values and cultural connections between India and Japan, focusing on the teachings of Buddha.

Furthermore, the meeting also focused on Assam's youth in bridging Japan's demand for a skilled workforce and the existing programmes between the two nations to explore career opportunities in Japan. 

The chief minister took to X on Thursday, January 23 speaking about the meeting, “It was a privilege to meet H.E. Mr. Komura Masahiro, Japan’s State Minister of Justice. We had an insightful conversation on the shared values and ethos that tie India and Japan, and particularly how ideals of Buddha form a spiritual bridge between our two societies. During my discussion, I underlined Government of Assam’s intention to establish an industrial park dedicated to Japanese companies. We also spoke at length at how talented youths from Assam can help bridge the demand for skilled workforce in Japan, through ongoing programs between our countries.”
The chief minister is on tour to a few countries to pitch Assam as an investment destination ahead of Advantage Assam 2.0 to be held on February 25 and 26.
