GUWAHATI: Assam Finance Minster, Himanta Biswa Sarma discussed the possibility of building a road overbridge from Mission Chariali to Tezpur on November 24.

Sarma has urged officials to give a feasibility report so that the state government can take a final decision on it soon.

Sarma along with Tezpur MP Pallab Lochan Das examined the location and sought Public Works Department's intervention in preparing a draft report.

It is to be mentioned that Mission Chariali is one of the most busiest location as it connects four roads towards- Lakhimpur, Mangaldoi, Nagaon, Tezpur city.

According to locals the road which connects to the Tezpur city is narrow as compared to the other roads, hence commuters are normally strangled for hours passing by local markets and bus terminals.

"If the new bridge as promised by Sarma comes up, it will bring in a lot of relief for the people of Tezpur while travelling on a day to day basic as we will save time," said Abhishek Kashyap, a resident of Tezpur.
