GUWAHATI: Two blood-stained bodies of a mother and her minor daughter were found in Bairagitila village of Cachar district on Saturday, October 19.
Based on a report by the Times of India, the deceased have been identified as Mira Ree (40) and Sangita Ree (12 ).
Police officials have mentioned that the accused, Akhil Das, is absconding.
Locals spotted the blood-stained bodies about 18 kilometres away from the village at around 8 am on Saturday. The bodies contained multiple marks of injuries and a towel and iron rod, also stained with blood, was also found.
An investigation was launched by police officials and blood stains were found inside Das’s house where it is suspected that both the mother and daughter were killed.
Speaking to police, locals informed that the mother-daughter duo were residing in Das’s house for the past six months. However, they were unaware of the relationship between Das and the deceased.
