GUWAHATI: A case of abuse and violence was reported from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Darrang, where a class 6 student from Sipajhar was reportedly beaten by his seniors on Thursday, August 25.
The incident occurred under the Mangaldai Police Station.
The mother of the victim told the media, “He joined the hostel on August 5 and ragging started in such a way that my son was not even allowed to eat food sent from home. On August 25, he was beaten severely by four to five boys from class 10. He was hit on his chest, and they even tried to strangle him”.
Later, the boy was brought home on advice of the school principal, the mother said. The school authority had promised the parents that they would take necessary action in regard to this incident, however no action has been initiated as of now, the mother told the media.
