Assam: Man Killed In Goalpara, Family Demands Justice

GUWAHATI: A 29-year-old man, Gautam Kalita, from Hekra village succumbed to injuries sustained during an altercation with his associates.

The incident originally occurred on July 24, in Bagdoba village, Goalpara. Kalita was beaten by his associates over an altercation in an inebriated state.

Severely injured, Kalita was initially admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH). His family promptly filed a First Information Report (FIR) at Dhupdhara Police Station. 

Despite showing signs of recovery and returning home on Friday, Kalita’s condition worsened by Saturday afternoon. He was rushed to Kalyani Hospital in Boko, where he was pronounced dead.

Talking to GPlus, Officer-in-Charge of Dhupadara Police Station said, “We have taken in four suspects and they are to be produced in court today, on July 29.”

In the wake of Kalita’s death, his family has demanded justice and a thorough investigation. Further details are awaited.
