Assam: Lumding Railway Station Receives 'Eat Right Station' Certification

GUWAHATI: The Lumding Railway Station in Assam, administered by the Northeast Frontier Railway (NF Railway), has been recognised and honoured with the prestigious 'Eat Right Station' certification by the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) on October 27.

This accolade acknowledges the station's commitment to providing rail passengers with high-quality and nutritious food options.

Lumding railway station has successfully met the stringent criteria established by the FSSAI, making it the third railway station under the NF Railway to achieve this distinguished status. The other two stations within the NF Railway that had previously earned this certification are the Guwahati railway station and Katihar's Harishchandrapur railway station.

The 'Eat Right Station' certification has been granted for a duration of two years, spanning from October 19, 2023, to October 18, 2025.

The NF Railway has outlined plans to extend this certification to more stations in Assam. Among the stations slated for potential inclusion are Rangia and Tinsukia railway stations, both of which aim to meet the requirements to become 'Eat Right Stations' in the future.

This certification, previously awarded to Guwahati railway station in Assam, aligns with the FSSAI's 'Eat Right India' movement. The movement represents a substantial nationwide endeavour by the FSSAI to revolutionise the country's food system, ensuring the availability of safe, healthy, and sustainable food options for all Indian citizens. The 'Eat Right Station' certification serves as a testament to railway stations that set and maintain exceptional standards in food safety and hygiene practices. It is conferred upon a station following a thorough evaluation by an FSSAI-empanelled third-party audit agency.
