Assam: Liquor to get Cheaper, Says Finance Minister

GUWAHATI: Assam finance minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has announced that tax on liquor will be curbed by 25 percent.

Presenting the Vote on Account Budget at the Assam Assembly on 12th February, the finance minister said that the extra 25 percent tax that was levied on liquor during the lockdown period due to the pandemic will now be withdrawn. 

 

Notably, the prices of petrol and diesel have also been reduced by Rs. 5 per litre with effect from the midnight of 12th February. The respite is provided just ahead of the state assembly polls.
