GUWAHATI: The Budget Session of the Assam Legislative Assembly begins today at the Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC) assembly in Kokrajhar, marking a historic moment as it is the first time in Assam's history that a legislative assembly session has been held outside of Guwahati.

Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya will address the House to open the session. Following the Governor’s address, the state government will present bills and ordinances, including the Supplementary Demands for Grants and supplementary allocations for the 2024-25 financial year.
A special discussion will also take place during the Speaker’s Initiative Session, focusing on the socio-economic development of regions under the Sixth Schedule of the Indian Constitution.
The Assembly will adjourn on February 18, with proceedings set to resume on February 19 in Guwahati, starting with the Question Hour. The Budget Session is scheduled to continue until March 25.
