GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has decided to grant four days of special casual leave to State Government employees to visit their parents/parents-in-law. This was decided during a Cabinet meeting held on Tuesday, August 30.
The employees can avail the leaves on 9,10 and 11 February 2023 followed by a holiday on 12 February, Sunday.
The State Cabinet also decided that Commonwealth Games 2022 gold medalist Nayanmoni Saikia will be appointed as the Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in Assam Police. This will be done under the provisions of the Integrated Sports Policy of Assam, 2017-111 (as amended).
Saikia won gold Lawn Bowls (Team Event) at the Commonwealth Game 2022 held at Birmingham.
The team of fours including Lovely Choubey, Pinki, Rupa Rani Tirkey, and Nayanmoni Saikia defeated the South Africa team 17-10 at Victoria Park, Birmingham. They are the first Indian team to reach the finals of this sport which has been a constant at CWG since 1930.
Saikia, who is a Forest Guard at the Assam Forest Department, chose lawn bowls after her injuries halted her weightlifting career.
The player hails from Tengabari village in Assam's Sarupathar and completed her education from Golaghat Commerce College.
