Assam: Kaziranga National Park Records Historic Surge In Tourist Arrivals

GUWAHATI: Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its breathtaking biodiversity, has set a new record for tourist visits this year.

Since welcoming visitors on October 15, the park has seen a significant influx of nature enthusiasts, both from India and abroad, with a total of 16,535 tourists exploring its pristine landscapes and diverse wildlife.

According to official data provided by the national park authorities, the Central range in Kohora witnessed an impressive footfall of 9,756 visitors, including 9,625 Indian tourists and 131 foreign visitors.

Meanwhile, the western range in Bagori has also reported a substantial number of visitors, with a total of 6,669 tourists and 110 foreigners, all exploring the wonders of Kaziranga during the 2023-24 season.

Taking to X, Assam Minister for Environment and Forests Chandra Mohan Patowary stated, “UNESCO World Heritage Site Kaziranga National Park & Tiger Reserve has witnessed record breaking tourist footfalls this year. Since opening the gates of the Park for visitors on 15th October, @kaziranga_ has received 16535 tourists till 31st October, both domestic and foreign. We are optimistic of a great tourist season ahead. Come, experience the majestic beauty of Kaziranga!”
