Assam: Kaliabor records the highest turnout in phase I of Lok Sabha Polls

GUWAHATI: Around 78.23 percent of the electorate exercised their franchise in the five constituencies of Assam which went to the polls in the first phase of the Lok Sabha elections on April 11.

As per official reports issued by the State Election Department, in Tezpur 79.15%, Kaliabor 82.09%,Jorhat 77.49%, Dibrugarh 77.26%, Lakhimpur 74.81% of polling after 5:00 PM with an average of 78.23% of voters turnout.

These numbers indicate the total tally from the Election Commission after final counting.

No incident of violence was reported from anywhere and polling was largely peaceful, an Election Commission official said.

The second phase of elections will be held on April 18 in Karimganj, Silchar, Autonomous District, Mangaldoi and Nowgong in Assam.
