GUWAHATI: The Post Colonial Assam (1947-2019), a book by senior journalist Mrinal Talukdar has been chosen by the US Library of Congress in Washington D.C., USA for future South Asian Studies.
It will be kept in their Washington-based grand library where it will be accessible for study.
It should be mentioned that this is one of the first books from Assam that has made its way to the US Library that talks about the region’s contemporary social situation.

The book features 11 chapters that begin with Assam’s position after independence and go on to present times when the conscientious Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) is being heavily discussed.
It should be noted that this is one of the only books that covers all the major events in Assam including the rise of BJP in the state, National Register of Citizens (NRC) and CAB in addition to information about the 15-year reign of Tarun Gogoi, former chief minister of Assam.
The US library of Congress is one of the oldest federal cultural institutions in the US and the official library used by researchers and academics from all over the world.
