Assam Issues New Maximum Speed Limit For National, State Highways

GUWAHATI: The Assam Cabinet on Monday, May 23, approved six speed-limit slabs for vehicles of all categories to reduce the risk of road accidents in the State.

According to speed capping, the maximum speed limit on four-lane roads for non-transport motor vehicles with a capacity of up to eight passengers is 100 KMPH. But on national and state highways, these categories of vehicles cannot cross the speed limit of 70 KMPH.

Two-wheelers within municipal areas cannot be driven at more than 50 KMPH speed while three-wheelers have to move at a speed up to 40 KMPH only.
