GUWAHATI: With the increase in vehicles and the high demand for oil products, the Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) is taking up necessary steps to balance it with additional oil depots.

There has been an increase in the retail demand, 8% in petrol and 4% in diesel, in Assam. To meet this demand, additional retail outlets and depots will be set up in the state, stated IOC Assam Oil Division's Chief General Manager Uttiya Bhattacharya.

IOC runs 899 depots in the state and to meet the growing demand 127 more depots are being planned. These depots will not be confined to the highways but can also be set up near agriculture and business centres. Those interested to open a petrol pump can apply through online, said Bhattacharya.
