GUWAHATI: Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma launched a fleet of 10 Catamaran vessels, three Tug Boats, and one search and rescue vessel to the people of Assam on September 28 at Lachit Ghat.
This initiative highlights commitment to sustainable transportation solutions, and is set to mark the state's efforts to enhance its water transport infrastructure.
The 10 Catamaran vessels, known for their stability and efficiency, are set to promote safe and sustainable water transportation across Assam's waterways. They offer a low-impact mode of transportation that is not only environmentally friendly but also economically viable.
Additionally, the allocation of 3 Tug Boats will ensure the efficient movement of cargo and passengers along its water routes. Tug Boats are essential for the smooth operation of ports and waterborne transportation.
The search and rescue vessel will be equipped to respond swiftly to emergencies.
Parimal Suklabaidya, the State Minister of Transport, Excise & Fisheries took to Twitter to put out, “Hon'ble CM Dr.@himantabiswa dangoriya will be dedicating 10 Catamaran vessels,3 Tug Boats & 1 search & rescue vessel today to the people of Assam, taking the state a step forward in promoting sustainable & eco friendly water transportation system.”
