GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has taken a significant step towards understanding the needs and concerns of its people with the launch of "Raiiyor Komadhan". The initiative aims to gain insight into the social infrastructure gaps in the state and assess the implementation levels of various government schemes.

The initiative will cover 25,501 villages across Assam over 15 days. The team spearheading the drive includes the Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, the Council of Ministers, senior government officers, and other staff members. The primary objective is to connect with the grassroots and comprehend the ground realities faced by the people.

To ensure effective data collection and assess the reach of government schemes, officials will visit every village before the Ministerial visits. This will help collate beneficiary data and analyse the implementation status of different schemes. The government aims to achieve saturation in the distribution of benefits from all its welfare schemes.

The initiative will also focus on inspecting the social infrastructure at the village level to identify and address any deficits in essential amenities. By creating a unified digital database, the government intends to streamline the rollout of future schemes and expedite the delivery of services to those in need.

One of the key objectives of "Raiiyor Komadhan" is to enhance public trust in government institutions by ensuring transparency and accountability. Additionally, the initiative seeks to improve the quality of social assets in the villages and publicise the "Village Report Cards" to gauge the success levels of various initiatives undertaken by the government.

To facilitate the process, the government plans to merge the National Food Security Act (NFSA) and Orunodoi databases in August. Moreover, a survey questionnaire and app as well as the preparation of guidelines is also set to be completed next month.

The preliminary survey is to be undertaken between September 1 to 15. Verification would be done between September 10 and 20.

This will be followed by visits to villages by ministers and officials in October.
