“In line with a recent Assam Cabinet decision, the Government of Assam notifies the Assam State Government Employees’ Child Care Leave Rules, 2025,” Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on X. “Female & single male employees with custody of minor or disabled children can now avail up to 730 days of CCL during their service.”
The earlier cabinet meeting, held on March 27, had approved an amendment to the existing CCL policy for single male government employees as well, as widowers and divorcees were entitled to apply for CCL for a maximum of two children. The provision was also extended to employees who are responsible for the care of children with disabilities, making them eligible under the same criteria.
The total leave entitlement remains capped at 730 days, applicable throughout the period of service.
Officials have stated that the revised policy aims to provide a more inclusive and equitable support framework for parenting within the government workforce.
