Assam: Here’s How To Have A Covid-Safe Saraswati Puja

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government will not be issuing any special guidelines for the celebration of Saraswati Puja in the State. This was said to the media by the State Health Minister Keshab Mahanta at Bokakhat.

Saraswati Puja, celebrated every year on Vasant Panchami, will be held on February 5 this year.

Mahanta said that there will be no special SOP for the occasion, however, the existing guidelines for celebrations and gatherings need to be followed. 

As per the last SOP updated on January 24 by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) for meeting or gathering at any open or closed spaces:

- Public gathering to a maximum of 200 double vaccinated members are allowed.
- ln closed venues, a maximum gathering of up to 50% seating capacity or 200 double vaccinated persons, whichever is lower, are allowed.
- No gathering beyond 50 persons in open areas and 50% of the seating capacity or 50 persons whichever is lower in respect of closed venues are allowed without prior permission from the Jurisdictional District Disaster Management Authority.

For religious functions, not more than 200 double vaccinated persons are allowed, following the aforementioned rules on capacity.
