GUWAHATI: The Assam government will extend monetary assistance to all Durga Puja committees as is rendered to Bihu committees, and plans to also extend such help during the Bhaona festival.

Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma made this announcement via a video shared on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday, October 1 saying, "State Govt. has decided to extend monetary assistance to all Durga Puja committees, and we plan to provide similar assistance during the Bhaona festival as well. We will always stand with the citizens in celebrating our festivals."
“We thrive to ensure that the public can celebrate all festivals together. As part of this commitment, we are introducing new schemes to support these celebrations, “ the chief minister said. He added that, just as Bihu committees receive financial aid, the Durga Puja committees will also benefit this year, with future plans to extend assistance to the Bhaona festival.
He also urged puja committees that have not yet applied for financial aid to reach out to District Commissioner's office for further assistance.
