GUWAHATI: As Director General of Police Kuladhar Saikia is set to retire on November 30, the State government has recommended names of four senior IPS officers, to fill in the post.
BJ Mahanta, Mukesh Agarwal and AK Kashyap are three of the four IPS officers selected for the post.
The UPSC is expected to take a call on this in a day or two once they decide to sit for a meeting.

As per a report by the Assam Tribune, the toss-up would be primarily between Mukesh Agarwal and BJ Mahanta.
Another senior IPS officer Tapan Deka was earlier considered as a frontrunner but due to some ‘technical’ issue he likely to be out of consideration.
