Assam Govt sanctions Rs 28.74 cr for the treatment of patients under Atal Amrit Abhiyan

During a press meet at the Janata Bhawan on Wednesday, State Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced that Smart cards under Atal Amrit Abhiyan will be issued in Assam, to all patients by 30th October. The card holders can avail free medical treatment worth Rs 50,000 to Rs 2 lakh each year.

A total of 12,000 patients across the state have appealed for the registration of the card benefits, where from the Govt has selected 5,738 patients who would be entitled to avail the card healthcare benefits. The money of the scheme will be delivered by the Government on 7th September.

The smart cards will be activated from 2nd October to 25th December 2017. The card holders can avail healthcare benefits for the treatment of 6 major diseases.

Himanta Biswa Sarma has also announced a sum of Rs 29 cr for the treatment fo 570 cancer patients across the state of Assam.

The state government will also establish a new medical college at Nalbari, for which the Ministry of DONER has contributed a sum of Rs 200 cr.
