GUWAHATI: Assam Government has issued a new notification that aims to ease the process of verification of people who were left out of the draft NRC.
The notification states that from now onwards, one does not have to go out of their home districts to another for attending hearings of the claims and objections that were made earlier to feature their names in the final NRC.

The tedious and time-consuming process of verification has reportedly caused problem to the public. The people were receiving notices asking them to travel from one district to another only to attend the hearings.
The new notification, issued by the Home and Political Department of Assam, also states that those who had already attended the hearings but unable to complete the Bio-Metric formalities can now complete those formalities at the nearest NRC centres in their home districts after submitting proper documents.
