GUWAHATI: In a bid to prohibit strike in the medical sector, the Assam government declared the Medical Service including Nursing Service as ‘Essential Service’ under the Essential Services Maintenance (Assam) Act 1980.
This was issued in an order by the government on 18 December. Further, under the provision of Section 3 of the Act, it has prohibited any strike involved in running medical service including nursing service as “Essential Service”.
This order would be valid for a period of six months from the date of issue of the notification.
