GUWAHATI: State health and family welfare minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on April 10 said that in an effort to step up testing efforts for coronavirus, the state government will now conduct rapid testing.
“In Assam till now we have conducted 2736 tests but in the near future, we are planning to conduct at least 1 lakh more tests,” said Sarma adding that the state government will buy 5 lakh rapid testing kits for COVID-19 which will arrive by April 22.
“We have asked Central government to help us, probably 5000 will be given to us soon. 50,000 kits may arrive within the next three days,” said the minister.
He also urged people with symptoms of any fever, cough or any covid-19 symptoms to come directly to medical colleges.
