GUWAHATI: In a move aimed at enhancing public service and administrative efficiency, the Government of Assam has announced a significant reshuffle of key bureaucratic positions within various departments.
In a recent notification, the government stated that Rajeev Chandra Joshi, an IAS officer of the 1994 batch, currently serving as the Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam in the General Administration Department and Special Principal Resident Commissioner at Assam Bhawan, New Delhi, has been transferred and newly appointed as the Principal Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Environment, Forest & Climate Change Department.
Moreover, M.S. Manivannan, an accomplished IAS officer belonging to the 2005 batch, who holds the position of Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Assam in the General Administration and Irrigation Departments, along with being the CEO of SIT A, will now be taking on additional responsibilities as the Resident Commissioner at Assam Bhawan, New Delhi.
The reshuffling also involves Biswajit Pegu, a dedicated IAS officer from the 2009 batch, who currently serves as the Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Home & Political Department. Pegu will now carry an additional charge as the Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Environment, Forest & Climate Change Department.
In the interest of maintaining effective administrative operations, Mahmood Hassan, an experienced ACS officer of the DR 92 batch, who presently holds the position of Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Environment, Forest & Climate Change Department, has been transferred. Hassan is directed to report to the Personnel Department for further assignment.
Furthermore, in accordance with the Election Commission of India's directives outlined and dated July 28, 2023, Dhiraj Kr. Jain, an ACS officer from the DR 2015 batch, and currently serving as the Deputy Secretary to the Government of Assam in the Department of Housing & Urban Affairs, is now reassigned to the Election Department. Jain will also be fulfilling the role of Joint CEO, Assam, as part of his new responsibilities.
