Assam Government Officials Take On Additional Responsibilities

 

GUWAHATI: The Assam Government has announced key administrative changes in its departments.

Ravi Shankar Prasad, a civil servant from the Indian Administrative Service batch of 1990, currently serving as the Additional Chief Secretary to the Assam Government in charge of the Environment and Forest and Soil Conservation Departments, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Assam Administrative Tribunal in an additional capacity.

The decision seeks Prasad's experience to lead the Assam Administrative Tribunal alongside his current responsibilities. As Director General of the Assam Administrative Staff College, he has showcased his commitment to administrative excellence.

Similarly, John Berchmans Ekka, a member of the Indian Administrative Service from the 1995 batch, presently fulfilling the role of Principal Secretary to the Assam Government in charge of the Panchayat and Rural Development and Tea Tribes Welfare Departments, has been entrusted with an additional responsibility. Ekka will also assume the role of Principal Secretary to the Assam Government, overseeing the Tourism Department.

Furthermore, the government has approved the transfer of Biraj Boruah, an officer from the District Administrative Service batch of 2015. Formerly the Additional District Commissioner of Udalguri, Boruah will now take on the role of Deputy Secretary to the Assam Government within the Public Health Engineering Department. In addition, he will shoulder the role of Deputy Mission Director for the Jal Jeevan Mission, Assam.

These changes were formalised through an official notification by the Assam Government’s Department of Personnel. The notification was signed by Sanjib Kumar Borah, Joint Secretary of the Department.
