GUWAHATI: The central government released a tax devolution of ₹1,73,030 crore to state governments on Friday, January 10, with Assam receiving the highest tax devolution of ₹5,412.38 crore among the northeastern states.

"This amount will greatly help us in implementing various welfare schemes for the people of Assam," Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma posted on X following the devolution.
Arunachal Pradesh followed with ₹3,040.14 crore, while Meghalaya and Manipur received ₹1,327.13 crore and ₹1,238.90 crore, respectively.
Other allocations included Tripura with ₹1,225.04 crore, Nagaland with ₹984.54 crore, and Sikkim with ₹671.35 crore.
