Assam: Foundation Stone Laid For District Sports Complex At Baksa

GUWAHATI: The foundation stone laying ceremony was held for a District Sports Complex at the Bathouphuri area of Mushalpur, Baksa, on Thursday. 

The foundation stone was laid by the Chief Minister fo Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma in the presence of Pramod Boro, Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR), Urkhao Gwra Brahma, Minister of Handloom and Textiles, Rakesh Brahma, Executive Member (EM) of BTR, Ghanshyam Das, EM of BTR, and Mantu Boro, Member of the Legislative Council of Assam (MCLA) representing BTR.

This project, estimated to cost ₹48.15 crore and spanning across 40 bighas, aims to provide a state-of-the-art sports facility for the region. 

The expected timeline for its completion is 24 months, with a range of features that promise to enhance sports and recreational opportunities in the area.

The key highlights of the sports complex include a synthetic athletic track and a football field, covering a sprawling 15,648.31 square meters. The complex will boast an Olympic-sized swimming pool capable of accommodating up to 790 spectators. 

Additionally, a multi-purpose indoor stadium will be an integral part of the structure, equipped to host sports such as Badminton, Table Tennis, Volleyball, and Taekwondo, among others. Moreover, a grand spectator stand will be erected with a capacity of 500 which will provide ample seating for sports enthusiasts and supporters.
