Assam Floods Show Marginal Improvement

GUWAHATI: The flood situation in Assam showed marginal improvement in the last 24 hours. Even so, the picture looks quite grim.

The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) revealed that there are 16 flood affected districts in the state at present. The total number of villages that are affected are 392.

In terms of the population, 88,911 people continue to bear the brunt of floods in Assam this year. A total of 2922.47 hectares of crop area are also affected in the ensuing floods.

ASDMA announced that there are 22 relief camps in the state. The total number of inmates housed in these relief camps are 2,333.

Tragically, eight people have lost their lives so far in the state owing to the ongoing flood situation.
