Assam Floods: 80% of Kaziranga National Park Under Water, Many Animals Dead

GUWAHATI: Around 80 percent of the Kaziranga National Park has been inundated by flood waters due to incessant rains.

The park being submerged in water to this extent, 66 animals have died and 170 animals have been rescued so far.

P Sivakumar, Director, Kaziranga National Park said, "So far, 66 animals have died and 170 animals were rescued."

Several photos and videos have surfaced on social media in which one-horned rhinos, elephants and other wild animals can be seen at elevated areas following the floods due to incessant rain in Kaziranga National Park. 

It is to be noted that Kaziranga National Park is spread across the floodplains of the Brahmaputra River, which is currently flowing above the danger level.
