Assam Farmer To Be Felicitated At Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela In Delhi

GUWAHATI: Gauri Kanta Deka, a farmer from Assam, will be honoured by the Indian Agricultural Research Institute (IARI) for his work with leading farmers and agricultural scientists in the country.

The ceremony will be held on March 4 at the Innovative Farmers' Recognition for Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela 2023. The Pusa Krishi Vigyan Mela 2023 will be held in New Delhi from March 2 to 4.

Deka (74) has won several awards from the Department of Agriculture, Krishi Vigyan Kendra, Barpeta, and other organisations at the district and state levels.

He began farming when he was very young. He used to work in the fields while his friends went to school.

In 2018, the Akhil Bharatiya Hindu Mahasabha gave him the Luitparia Lifetime Achievement Award. He also received an award from the Barpeta KVK.

He once received a prize for showcasing a 2.8 kg brinjal.
