GUWAHATI: Acting on credible intelligence provided by the Chief of the Special Task Force (STF) in Assam, an operation was conducted to thwart a transaction involving Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) on Tuesday.
The operation, carried out by a team from STF Assam, aimed to prevent the illicit deal and apprehend those involved.
Early this morning, the STF Assam team set out from Guwahati and arrived in Krishnai, District-Goalpara, in response to the provided information. At around 1 PM, a car was intercepted in Krishnai town. The operation led to the successful apprehension of three individuals identified as Md. Anowar Hussain (52 years old), Md. Rafique Ahmed (47 years old), and Md. Krowel Marak (35 years old), all residents of Krishnai, Goalpara.
During the thorough search of the vehicle, the STF team discovered a total of 29 bundles of Fake Indian Currency Notes, all in 500 denominations, concealed within. The apprehended individuals were found to be in possession of these counterfeit notes along with the vehicle used for transportation. Additionally, four mobile handsets were also seized from their possession.
The three suspects, along with the confiscated items, were handed over to the Officer-in-Charge of Krishnai Police Station for further legal proceedings. A case has been registered at Krishnai Police Station to initiate a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
Further investigations are underway.
