Assam Embraces Drone-Powered Modern Agricultural Technology

GUWAHATI: In a recent move towards the integration of modern technology in agriculture, the Assam government is emphasising the adoption of advanced techniques in the farming sector.

This commitment was recently underscored during a compelling demonstration of drone technology, organised collaboratively by Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Golaghat, Assam Agricultural University (AAU) Jorhat, Department of Agriculture, Assam, and Brihangam Farmers Producer Company (FPC) at Mohurapathar, Bokakhat.

The demonstration showcased the potential of drones to transform agricultural practices in the region. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma expressed his optimism regarding the use of drones for pesticide spraying, describing the initial trials as encouraging. He emphasised the pivotal role that drones could play in revolutionising agriculture and bridging the gap between technological innovation and direct benefits for farmers.

The utilisation of drone technology has the potential to optimise various aspects of farming, including pest control and crop monitoring, ultimately leading to increased yields and income for farmers.
