GUWAHATI: A total of three names have been forwarded to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) high command in Delhi for the Gauhati East Constituency. The names include incumbent Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Siddhartha Bhattacharya, former Mayor of Guwahati Mrigen Sarania and Santanu Bharali, Legal Adviser to the Chief Minister of Assam.
All three names were forwarded during the high-level meeting held in Delhi, as per a highly placed source. The matter was taken up in the meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP President JP Nadda, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the home minister’s residence. BJP Assam chief Ranjit Dass, AGP President and state minister Atul Bora, UPPL chief Pramod Boro, BJP leader and state minister Himanta Biswa Sarma were also a part of the meeting.
