With the Election Commission of India announcing the poll dates for upcoming Assam Elections 2021, the model code of conduct has come into force with immediate effect.
The Model Code of Conduct lays down a list of do’s and don’ts for the political parties ahead of elections. It is a set of guidelines issued by ECI to regulate political parties and candidates prior to elections.
“Assam assembly elections will be held in 3 phases - 1st phase of polling- 27th March, second phase polling-1st April and third phase of polling-6th April; Date of counting 2nd May,” Sunil Arora, Chief Election Commissioner of India, said during a press conference in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.
