Assam: Drugs Worth ₹48 Crore Seized In Sivasagar & Karbi Anglong; 3 Held

GUWAHATI: Assam Police have seized drugs worth ₹48 crore and arrested three individuals suspected to be involved in the illicit trade in two separate anti-narcotics operations. 

In the first operation, Sivasagar Police intercepted a truck carrying a consignment of heroin. The operation took place in the intervening night of June 16-17 as the vehicle was entering Assam from Nagaland.

Upon thorough inspection, officers discovered 399 soap cases containing heroin weighing 4.6 kilograms. The seized heroin is estimated to be worth ₹40 crore in the illegal market. The police apprehended two suspects in connection with this seizure. 

In a parallel operation, the Karbi Anglong Police seized a substantial quantity of morphine. Acting on specific intelligence, the police conducted a raid that led to the recovery of 8.033 kilograms of morphine.

The value of the seized morphine is estimated to be ₹8 crore. One individual was arrested in connection with this operation.
