The autonomous status will be effective for a period of 10 years, starting from the academic year 2024-2025 to 2033-2034, as per Clause 7.5 of the UGC (Conferment of Autonomous Status Upon Colleges and Measures for Maintenance of Standards in Autonomous Colleges) Regulations 2023.

As part of the UGC directive, Dibrugarh University is required to issue a formal notification regarding this status within 30 days. The autonomy grants the college greater academic freedom, enabling it to design its own curriculum, conduct examinations, and manage its administrative affairs independently.

The college must comply with all provisions outlined in the UGC Regulations for Autonomous Colleges, which are available on the UGC website. Any non-compliance will result in action under Clause 13 of the 2023 Regulations. Additionally, Digboi College will need to apply for an extension of autonomous status three months before the current period ends.
