The victim, Sunil Gogoi was murdered on June 1. Gogoi was reportedly a contractor associated with the Jal Jeevan Mission who was found in a field in Dhakuakhana brutally mutilated and partially burned, approximately 200 meters from his home in Sumoni.

Gogoi was reportedly murdered and then set ablaze using bamboo stored in the field. The assailants decapitated him before attempting to burn the body. Among the items found at the crime scene were Gogoi's machete (daa), a sandal, and a bamboo stick.

The incident occurred when Gogoi left his house around 8 pm on Saturday. The attack happened shortly after he reached Sumoni. Residents suspect that chemicals were used to accelerate the burning process, despite the heavy rainfall.

This is an ongoing investigation, and further details are awaited as authorities continue to probe the incident.
