The partnership is aligned with the Biotechnology for Economy, Environment, and Employment (BioE3) Policy, approved by the Union Cabinet under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This initiative seeks to position India as a global leader in bio-based innovations. Notably, Assam is the first state in the country to adopt the BioE3 policy, demonstrating its commitment to harnessing biotechnology for sustainable economic growth.

The MoU signing follows the successful Advantage Assam 2.0 summit, where over 10 MoUs were inked to attract bio-investments. This latest agreement with DBT is expected to further strengthen collaboration between the government, industry, startups, incubators, and students, facilitating innovation-driven growth in the biotechnology sector.

A robust bioeconomy will create new opportunities for scholars from Assam and across the country, driving research, entrepreneurship, and industrial partnerships.
