GUWAHATI: The Assam government has announced a public holiday on Wednesday, November 13, in view of the upcoming bye-elections in select Assembly constituencies.

On the day of polling, all government and non-government offices, Panchayati Raj Institutions, urban local bodies, educational institutions, businesses, commercial establishments, banks, tea gardens, and industries within these constituencies will remain closed.
The constituencies observing the holiday include Dholai (11), Sidli (31), Bongaigaon (32), Behali (77), and Samaguri (88).
This measure, enacted under Section 25 of the Negotiable Instruments (NI) Act, 1881, aims to facilitate public participation in the election process.
The decision follows a directive from the Chief Electoral Officer of Assam, in line with guidelines provided by the Election Commission of India.
