GUWAHATI: Four individuals have been arrested by Darrang Police in connection with an alleged rhino poaching plan at Orang National Park on Tuesday, November 5. The suspects, identified as Nur Hussain, Abul Hussain, Jaffar Ali, and Nur Islam, were taken into custody after authorities seized critical items from their possession.

Among the recovered materials were a .303 rifle with ammunition, three mobile phones, five motorcycles, and camping equipment. The police believe the group was planning to enter the national park with the intent to engage in poaching activities.
The authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover further details of the poaching network and prevent any further illegal activities in the region.
Earlier, Assam Police apprehended three individuals on suspicion of rhino poaching on October 26. The men—Md. Abdul Ali (52), Md. Ajgar Ali (41), and Md. Ali Hussain (21)—were interrogated, during which Abdul Ali reportedly confessed to the poaching scheme, leading police to uncover a hidden stash of firearms submerged in a pond on his property.
